Unfortunately, you may be faced with an emergency situation at some point in your pet’s life. Aloha Animal Hospital will see emergencies during our regular service hours. Please call us for instructions on emergency care during normal business hours. After hours, we offer phone consultations with the on-call Aloha Animal Hospital veterinarian, but all other in person emergency services after hours are provided by one of our local emergency hospitals.

Contact Aloha Animal Hospital or a Local Emergency Hospital Immediately If You Notice Any of the Following:

In General

Any problem that persists longer than 24 hours.
Any problem that worsens over several hours.
Any systemic problems such as lethargy, loss of appetite, weakness and fever.
Body temperature less than 100°F or greater than 104°F.
Any indication that more than one body system (GI, urinary, neurological) is affected.

Bleeding

Bleeding from nose, mouth or anus.
Bleeding accompanied by bruising of the skin, especially on the abdomen.
Bleeding that cannot be stopped by applying pressure.
If blood loss is excessive.
Weakness, difficulty breathing, or reluctance to move after a bleeding episode.

Gastrointestinal Problems

Frequent bouts of vomiting or diarrhea resulting in loss of large volumes of fluid.
Inability to drink or keep water down.
Blood or black material (digested blood) in the vomit or stool.
More than three to four episodes of vomiting or diarrhea in a puppy or in a dog older than 8 years.
Vomiting following suspected ingestion of foreign material (toys, garbage, rocks, etc).
Suspected poisoning.
Suspected bloat.

Lameness

Obvious fracture of a limb.
Nonweight-bearing lameness persisting for more than 12 hours.
Swollen, painful joints or a gait that appears as if “walking on eggshells.”
Paralysis of one or more limbs.
Lameness that initially improves but does not resolve in 24-48 hours.

We've been loyal patrons of Aloha for over 13 years. The team is professional, kind, and really exemplifies the Ohana Spirit.

I could go on and on about how good this team is. The latest example, we called last night to get some information about Mia's symptoms. Sam spent time to discuss what Mia was experiencing, and showed nothing but consideration for our feelings. As we were speaking, Sam took the time to look for the closest available appointment. As we spoke, she noticed a recent cancellation, and we were able to see Dr. Brittany the next day. David is also that kind and caring.
Dr. Brittany was great. She took the time to discuss our aging dogs arthritis, and the options we could take to reduce the pain she seemed to be experiencing. This team really dedicates the time that we, as loving pet owners deserve, not to mention our pets.

  I had such a wonderful experience at Aloha Animal Hospital. From the moment we walked in, the nurse and the two receptionists, Alex and Kylie, were incredibly polite, friendly, and welcoming. They were also very understanding of my German Shepherd, who can be a bit reactive, and never made us feel uncomfortable or judged.

Dr. James was truly amazing with her. I've been to other vets where staff seemed scared of my dog and made it feel like a big issue, which was stressful for both of us. That was absolutely not the case here. Dr. James and the team handled her with such care, patience, and confidence, and were so understanding throughout the entire visit. They made the whole process smooth and easy, which I am beyond grateful for.

I left feeling relieved, supported, and thankful to have found a vet who treats both pets and owners with such respect and compassion. I would recommend Aloha Animal Hospital to anyone without hesitation.

  I have had all good experiences at Aloha Animal Hospital. It's the only vet I trust with my bunnies. The front desk staff is very friendly, the vet techs are knowledgeable and friendly. I've worked with Dr Beckes, Dr Nieves, and Dr Sullivan, they've all been wonderful! They stay informed on new advancements when it comes to exotic animal care and they understand bunnies. I really appreciate that they examine and treat bunnies on the floor when possible, bunnies do not like to be held and are prone to serious injury if they fall. Even when their office is super busy they've always been able to see my bunnies for emergencies.

  They got me in quickly at the end of the day when my tortoise got unexpectedly injured. I was so grateful for them as every other exotics hospital I called in the valley told me they couldn't take him and told me to go to VEG (yeah right...worst vet hospital ever). I dropped him off for an overnight stay where they started treatment for him and kept him in an oxygen box. The staff was very friendly and the prices were fair. tortellini is doing great now!
