Alex

Alex

Animal Care Specialist

Growing up with a mom and dad who are both veterinarians, Alexander says that working with animals just makes him feel at home. It wasn’t until he got his first dog, however, that he decided the veterinary industry would be his chosen path as well. As one of Aloha’s animal care attendants, Alex makes sure all of our boarding guests enjoy a safe, comfortable, and fun stay!

When Alex found himself in need of a summer job, joining the Aloha Animal Hospital team was the natural choice. Professionally, he enjoys walking the dogs because it gives him the opportunity to play and have fun with them. He also appreciates looking after our exotic patients. It’s interesting to be able to interact with so many different species!

Outside of work, Alex lives with his parents, and two brothers. The family’s many pets include four dogs (Primo, Oreo, Stella, and Milo), three cats (Mouse, Sammy, and Pickles), three ferrets (Alfred, Ricky Bobby, and Badger), and several fish. In his spare time, Alex enjoys playing video games, and hanging out with friends. A skilled wrestler, Alex was named All-American and Nevada state champion in 2022. He plans to continue wrestling at UNLV where he qualified for the national tournament during freshman year.

Alyssa

Alyssa

Veterinary Assistant

The way that pets trust us, and the way that they often need us to speak for them, always made an impression on Alyssa. She knew that she wanted to do everything in her power to give something back to the animals who had always given her so much. Alyssa decided to dive headfirst into veterinary medicine, and she hasn’t looked back since!

Alyssa grew up in Rosemead, California and spent several years working with medical records as a Health Information Clerk. She signed on for a Veterinary Assistant course at Carrington College of Pomona, and graduated in 2006. Next, Alyssa took her first job in the veterinary world at a clinic in Los Angeles. She’s been a veterinary professional ever since!

Alyssa started here at Aloha Animal Hospital in August of 2019 after her wife was transferred to this area. She’s fond of dental work and also has a special passion for ear cleanings and nail trims. Most of all, Alyssa likes to see happy, healthy pets every day and meet their loving owners.

At home, Alyssa lives with her wife and her “step-dog” Mumu. In her spare time, she enjoys catching up on her favorite television shows and movies and watching her favorite sports teams. Alyssa is a big WNBA fan and loves to cheer on the Los Angeles Sparks and the Las Vegas Aces.

Amy

Amy

Assistant Manager

Amy was born a natural caregiver; it’s simply the essence of who she is! She’s adored caring for both people and animals ever since she was a child, and is thrilled to make a difference as a member of the Aloha Animal Hospital family.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Amy is currently attending school to study nursing. She first heard about an opening here at Aloha Animal Hospital through a coworker, and was thrilled to join the team shortly after applying. Amy especially enjoys interacting directly with clientele and their beloved animal companions.

Amy lives with her wonderful daughter, Carly, and plans on adopting a dog in the near future. When she has a spare moment between family life, work, and her school studies, she likes traveling, camping, and hiking through the beautiful scenery of Nevada.

Angela

Angela

Veterinary Assistant

Angela always wanted to be able to help those that can’t speak for themselves. Coupled with the fascination she felt when watching Animal Planet programming at home, she realized that a career in veterinary care made perfect sense! Angela hasn’t looked back since—she’s proud to now serve as a part of Aloha Animal Hospital’s Veterinary Assistant team.

Angela was born in Detroit but moved with her family here to Las Vegas at the age of five. She attended the PIMA Veterinary Assistant program and took an externship at a local animal hospital, where she would hone her skills for the next six years. Angela then moved to Reno and worked in specialty surgery before relocating again to Seattle, Washington to perform emergency work in the Intensive Care Unit.

After a time spent focusing on general practice and supervising surgery and dental procedures at a clinic in New Jersey, Angela returned to Las Vegas to be closer to family. She joined the Aloha Animal Hospital in January of 2018 as a Veterinary Assistant. Medically, Angela likes the fast pace of emergency care, and she’s also fond of anesthesia work and the learning opportunities it provides.

At home, Angela lives with one pet of her own: Dippy, a cat who has a unique penchant for biting the bridges of her human subjects’ noses.

Candise

Candise

Candise grew up right here in Las Vegas, where she always had at least one pet around the house. She’s had a soft spot in her heart for animals ever since she was a little girl—working with the area’s pets as a Licensed Veterinary Technician is a dream come true!

After working in the hospitality industry for a time, Candise knew that she wanted a change. That’s when she decided to take the leap into veterinary medicine—she enrolled in the College of Southern Nevada’s veterinary technology program, working graveyard shifts overnight to gain real-world experience during her studies. Now, she’s a Licensed Veterinary Technician and has been serving the pets and animal owners of her hometown here at Aloha Animal Hospital since September of 2017.

Candise lives outside of the city with her boyfriend and a menagerie of pets. David

David

Client Care Specialist

David grew up on a farm in rural Oklahoma where handling animals became second nature. At a young age, he helped pull a calf during a difficult birth. As the Assistant Manager here at Aloha Animal Hospital, David is able to apply his knowledge and love of animals to help our patients feel welcome and safe.

Despite majoring in civil engineering, David landed a job in boarding in 2005 and hasn’t looked back since. He joined Aloha in 2010. Professionally, David loves being family for the pets who stay with us. He especially enjoys it when patients come in and are excited to see him.

Outside of work, David has a geriatric pug named Tyson, who is attached to his hip and will follow him anywhere. In addition to animals, David also loves teaching algebra.

DeAnna

DeAnna

Client Care Specialist

As a child, DeAnna faced a good deal of bullying in school. Fortunately, her dog Sassy became her safe place to land. No matter how difficult a day she’d faced, Sassy would always be there waiting by the front door with her tail wagging and eager to shower DeAnna with welcome-home kisses. Even as an adult, this special connection she shared would drive DeAnna to seek out companionship with animals over humans. Today, she is happy and confident, thanks to those furry friends who helped her to fit in.

DeAnna officially made the decision to join the veterinary field when she lost her beloved cat, Gomez, to an unexpected illness. She made a promise to herself (and Gomez) that she would never let anything preventable happen to her fur babies again, and being in the industry has helped her keep that promise. After years of working jobs that made her miserable, DeAnna is finally in a field that not only brings fulfillment, but also daily smiles.

Professionally, DeAnna gets tremendous joy from seeing patient success stories. In particular, she loves witnessing the before and after transformation of laser treatments. Animals may come in limping and uncomfortable due to arthritis but end up leaving with better mobility and happier all around after a session. DeAnna also enjoys giving treats to animals that have behaved well in the lobby. They are always so excited to take the treats right of her hand.

At home, DeAnna’s passion and love of animals have resulted in her building her own small zoo of furry, feathered and scale-covered friends. This menagerie of pets includes a Welsh corgi named Morty, two rescue cats (Arwen and Amberlee), a strawberry-loving bearded dragon, a green-cheek Conure named Loki, a fetch-playing blood-parrot chichlid named Bill, a red foot tortoise named Sally, and a Main Coon named Sneakers, who is the king of the house.

Despite all of these pets, DeAnna’s number one baby is her daughter, Daphnee, who definitely shares her mother’s love of animals. When she’s not busy looking after her human and animal family, DeAnna can usually be found watching movies or listening to music. She and her boyfriend are also major LA Dodgers fans and frequently dress up the whole crew in Dodgers gear whenever a game is on. The dogs love baseball season too, because it means they get to snack on unlimited popcorn.

Diane

Diane

Veterinary Assistant

Diane can’t remember a time when she didn’t adore animals. She’s owned everything from dogs and rabbits to guinea pigs, birds, and turtles! When she had the chance to advance her career and become a veterinary professional, Diane knew that it wasn’t an opportunity she could pass up. Now, she’s a proud member of the Aloha Animal Hospital Veterinary Assistant team.

Diane is from Los Angeles, California and moved to Nevada at a young age. She’s been here ever since! She attended the PIMA Medical Institute to study veterinary technology and graduated as a Veterinary Assistant in February of 2019. She decided to dive headfirst into the field and has been working as an Assistant ever since—Diane joined the team here at Aloha Animal Hospital in September of 2020, and plans on returning to school to earn her Veterinary Technician’s diploma in the near future.

As a member of the clinic’s care team, Diane particularly enjoys being part of a field that is constantly evolving. Most of all, she’s thrilled to work alongside other animal-lovers like herself and use her skills to make pets feel happier and healthier every single day.

When time permits away from the office, Diane enjoys visiting the beach, swimming, and spending time with her family at home. She has two siblings and also shares her life with one pet, a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix named BB.

Kamalani grew up on the island of Maui in Hawaii, and was first introduced to veterinary care when she started volunteering during summers at the Maui Humane Society. Her passion only grew from there. Kamalani knew that she wanted to devote herself to animal care, and she hasn’t looked back since!

After her time volunteering at the Maui Humane Society, Kamalani decided to join the United States Navy after graduating from high school. She went on to use her GI bill to fund her veterinary schooling, and the rest is history. Kamalani first began here at Aloha Animal Hospital as an extern for school, and was then offered a job upon completing her hours. Now, she’s a Licensed Veterinary Technician-in-training.

Around the hospital, Kamalani enjoys collecting samples and determining results in the lab. She’s also fond of using diagnostic imaging like ultrasound and radiographs to really understand what’s going on internally with a patient. Above all, Kamalani enjoys interacting one-on-one with pet owners and their adorable companions in order to improve everyone’s quality of life.

Most of Kamalani’s free time is spent caring for her wonderful son, Mana. The family has one pet at home: Loki, a talkative cat who is friendly to everyone he meets.

Lilian

Lilian

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Animals are just as important as us humans, but sadly do not have a voice to speak up for themselves when they need help. Lilian decided to become a part of the veterinary field to help those in need when they have no one else to turn to – ensuring that all animals are taken care of and loved.

When Lilian was a small child, she had a pet Chihuahua named Milly. Whenever Milly would get sick, Lilian would cry out of frustration, not knowing how to help. She remembers many visits to the vet, where she would sit enthralled as the doctor and support staff worked to help Milly feel better. This experience sparked a desire to one day follow in their footsteps and save animals for a living.

In 2022, Lilian completed her veterinary nursing program and began her hands-on training at a local animal hospital. There, she gained a tremendous amount of experience and forged several lifelong friendships. As she continued to grow, however, Lilian decided it was time to expand her career and journey toward a new path, specifically working with exotic animals. She joined the Aloha Animal Hospital team in July of 2022. Clinically, she enjoys wound care and assisting with surgery.

At home, Lilian recently welcomed a new fur baby to her family who loves to cuddle after she finishes her zoomies. When she’s not hard at work, Lilian enjoys traveling, hiking, and kicking back with some snacks and a good movie.

Lulu

Lulu

Veterinary Assistant

Lulu grew up here in Las Vegas and was constantly around animals. She fell in love with the earth’s creatures early on, and always suspected that she would love to work hands-on with pets to help them live happier, healthier lives. Lulu gets to live her dream every day—she’s a proud member of the hospital’s Veterinary Assistant team!

After attending college, Lulu launched her animal-care journey at another local veterinary practice, where she gained crucial first-hand experience in the field. Next, she found out about an opening here at Aloha Animal Hospital through a friend who works here, and it wasn’t long before she had joined the clinic team herself. Lulu has been a member of the family ever since! She particularly likes monitoring pets during surgical procedures, and she loves to learn more and more about exotic pet care. The highlight of every shift, though, is getting to see patients leave with a wagging tail and a confident strut after receiving top-notch care from the hospital team.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Lulu is an avid artist and loves to paint. She’s even had requests for pieces after sharing her work on social media! Lulu shares her life with two canine companions at home: Tyson, an English Bulldog whose favorite pastimes are eating, sleeping, and going on adventures; and a playful and cuddle-loving mixed breed named Baylee.

Mariella

Mariella

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Growing up, Mariella can’t remember a time in her life when there wasn’t at least one animal in the house. She especially loved growing up with dogs, and at one point aspired to become a vet. Every year, while visiting her family in Mexico, Mariella would be struck by the countless strays in the streets. Seeing animals living like that made her want to do something to help. After researching the various roles in the veterinary industry, Mariella decided a career as a vet tech was the best fit, and the rest is history!

Mariella began her journey by volunteering at Hearts Alive Village animal shelter and was later employed there as well. She attended the College of Southern Nevada and was accepted into their veterinary nursing program, through which she became licensed. Mariella was introduced to Aloha Animal Hospital when she brought her sugar gliders in for care. After graduating from vet tech school, she decided to apply and was officially welcomed to the team! Professionally, Mariella enjoys surgery and anesthesia.

Outside of work, Mariella has three dogs and two sugar gliders. Frida, a schnauzer, is a grumpy and easily jealous old lady. Lucas, a Doberman, is incredibly cuddly and loves to have all the attention. Lola, a husky, is the youngest and loves to play and run. Gliders BB and CC love to explore and eat sweets. In her spare time, Mariella loves to read, swim, and is currently learning how to crochet. One of her first projects was a blanket, which Frida promptly claimed as her own as soon as it was finished.

Mason

Mason

Animal Care Specialist

Like so many of his colleagues, Mason decided to work in the veterinary field because of a deep love of animals and a strong desire to assist those in need. He recalls an inspirational story about a local kayaker who came across a dog stranded on an island. Hearing about how the man patiently rescued the dog and returned him safely to shore further spurred Mason’s passion for helping animals.

For Mason, working at Aloha Animal Hospital is a family affair. In fact, it was his mom, who also works here, that initially told him about the opening for an animal care specialist. He officially became part of the team in July of 2022 and hasn’t looked back since.

Outside of work, Mason resides with his mother and their two dogs: Daisey and Maya. Daisey is a very sweet pit bull Dalmatian mix, while Maya is a complete spaz. Mason’s favorite hobbies include playing basketball, and hunting. He recently downed his first buck from 506 yards away.

Max has worked at Aloha on and off for several years. Professionally, he enjoys seeing the special bond shared between owners and their animal family members. He especially appreciates it when the team is able to nurse sick patients back to health. Watching them recover and regain their strength and energy is incredibly rewarding.

At home, Max’s family has a veritable zoo of their own, including four dogs, three cats, three ferrets, several goldfish, and about a dozen koi fish. Max’s dog Oreo is quite lazy. In fact, when given the opportunity, she will spend most of the day sleeping. In his spare time, Max enjoys wrestling, an activity for which he was a state finalist twice during high school.

Megan is proud to use her customer-service and management background to better the lives of the area’s pets as Aloha Animal Hospital’s Practice Manager.

Megan is responsible for everything from clinic-to-vendor communications and human resources management to client correspondence and supply purchasing.

When she isn’t working to help the pet owners of Las Vegas here at the clinic, Megan can be found reading, writing, working out, and spending time with family and friends. When she isn’t helping the pet owners of the area here at the clinic, Patty enjoys catching up on reality television and dabbling in writing. She used to write fiction, and even has a novel completely finished!

Robyn

Robyn

Client Care Specialist

After 25 dedicated years in the hotel industry, Robyn decided it was about time that her customers started including the furry, four-legged kind. Animals have always been a part of her life and her family, so a transition into the veterinary industry just felt right. She joined Aloha in January of 2022 and has not regretted her career change for a second!

In her role as Receptionist, Robyn really enjoys the daily work with our clients and their animal family members. Always a people person, she’s excited that she now gets to add animals to the mix. She thrives in our fast paced environment and appreciates the fact that every day is different.

The family dog, Daisey Mae, was a rescue who chose them when she was just 6 months old. Now a senior, Daisey is well aware that she’s a princess. Whatever you do, don’t ask her to go potty on wet grass.

Skylar

Skylar

When the dog finally came home, she was healthier and happier than ever! That experience made a permanent impression on Skylar—she knew she would love to be part of a team that made those kinds of things happen every day.

Skylar is originally from Livonia, Michigan and moved to Boulder City and then Las Vegas with her family. She was only 17 years old when she signed on with her first animal hospital, where she learned invaluable lessons in the world of pet care that serve her well to this day. Now, she’s a proud member of the front-desk team here at Aloha Animal Hospital and couldn’t be happier to help the pets and animal parents of the area. Skylar’s favorite parts of the job are learning new things on an almost daily basis and speaking one-on-one with pet owners.

Away from work, Skylar enjoys music, learning, and spending quality time with her family and pets. Along with her parents and brother, she has two pets: Duke, a German Shepherd who loves his tennis ball and enjoys learning new tricks; and a food-obsessed pet rat named Buster.

Tara

Tara

Veterinary Assistant

When Tara Rivera was 12 years old, one of her many beloved pets needed emergency care. She watched in awe as the veterinary staff cared for and comforted her pet. Not only did they make her dog feel better, but they made Tara feel better as well. It was at that moment when Tara said to herself, “I want to be like them!”

Tara’s journey began in high school, when she started volunteering at her local animal shelter. From there, she went on to work at a dog daycare before officially entering the veterinary field as a Kennel Technician. Now, as a Veterinary Assistant at Aloha Animal Hospital, Tara feels she’s officially found her calling.

Growing up in Palm Springs, CA, Tara comes from a large family, with five siblings and her parents. Today, she shares her life with her husband, John, and their three dogs: a German Shepherd named Nala who loves to talk, another German Shepherd named Simba who is a total momma’s boy, and a Belgian Malinois named Kiara who is an 85 pound ball of nonstop energy.

Outside of work, Tara’s personal interests include training and playing with her dogs. In her spare time, she can often be found playing soccer, working out at the gym, or watching Netflix while curled up with her pups.

Tiana

Tiana

Veterinary Assistant

If you asked 3-year-old Tiana what she wanted to be when she grew up, she’d have told you with pride and full confidence that she was one day going to be a vet. Her passion for animal care, combined with a fascination with science, biology and medicine, kept this desire burning throughout the years. Today, as one of the veterinary assistants here at Aloha Animal Hospital, Tiana is thrilled to be working toward making her childhood dream a reality!

Tiana’s journey into the industry began as a Kennel Attendant at a nearby clinic, where she also began training alongside the support staff and veterinarians. After much hard work and dedication, she was eventually promoted to the role of Veterinary Assistant. She joined the Aloha team in May of 2022. Professionally, Tiana enjoys witnessing the complete turnaround in patients. Earning the trust of our clients is also something she finds very rewarding.

In her spare time, Tiana enjoys bare-bow archery and special effects art – both of which she self-taught.

Tsai

Tsai

Petriage Remote Veterinary Nurse

Tsai grew up in a small town in New Mexico, surrounded by animals, from rabbits and dogs to horses. In high school, she began working with small and large farm animals on a volunteer basis. This experience made Tsai realize that she wanted to make animals an integral part of her life, not just personally, but professionally as well. As a nurse here at Aloha Animal Hospital, Tsai is continuously inspired to give all that she has to our precious patients each and every day.

After high school, Tsai earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science and continued to work with animals in a clinical setting. She joined the Aloha team in 2007. Professionally, she has a special interest in dentistry, and feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to assist a veterinary dentist with oral surgeries. While she admits that her job can sometimes be emotionally challenging, she also finds it incredibly fulfilling.

Outside of the clinic, Tsai is happily married with two children – a son and a daughter. The family’s pets include a pit bull named Punkin, who is a total ham, a pit bull / lab mix named Suki, who is Tsai’s shadow, and sweet guinea pig named Freeway.

Tsai’s personal interests include reading, and spending time with her children (4-legged included). Last year, she set and accomplished her goal to read 100 books. This year, she hopes to surpass that goal.
